Joyeuse vacances! Je t'aime! Mme Ireland BRING A BUTTERFLY HABITAT TOMORROW! Our butterflies have not yet come out of their chrysalis, which means that each student is asked to bring in a clear, plastic container with small holes poked into the lid so that Mme Ireland can transfer the chrysalis for each student. This way, students can create their own habitat for the caterpillar to continue its transformation (metamorphosis). Once the butterfly emerges from the chrysalis, it will need a day to pump and dry its wings (you will see that it will remain suspended on the lid). Please do not keep it once it is ready to fly. Release it into nature and make a wish. If it does not make it through the transformation, please release it into the wild so that it can become part of the ecosystem as a food source. Remember to still make a wish. Tomorrow in the gym at 8:45 am. All parents are welcome! Animal Research Projects - Today students shared their research about a variety of different animals. Bravo les amis! Vous avez trouvé des informations et faits, très intéressants.
WACKY WEDNESDAY UPDATE 1. C'est une journée Pyjama demain! Tu peux aussi apporter un toutou! 2. Music Share that had been scheduled for today has been moved to tomorrow (Wednesday)! Please check your child's dossier for their "white" report card envelope. Merci! RAIN or SHINE WALKING FIELD TRIP TUESDAY Walking Field Trip to Bowmont Park Our year end celebration has arrived and tomorrow we head off to Bowmont Park. The weather is looking mixed so, this is how you can help prepare your child for a successful day outside. WHAT YOU NEED: -waterproof or rain resistant jacket -rain pants -rain boots or bogs -long pants (no jeans) -2 pairs of warm socks -a rain or sun hat -a toque and mitts/gloves tucked into backpack -please wear a t-shirt, layered up with a long sleeve and a fleece or hoodie -put sunscreen on before you leave home -a filled water bottle -2 snacks -a hearty lunch -an umbrella Being prepared for all types of weather is important to having a successful day. Please note the forecast is 60% chance of rain. We go rain or shine. We will evaluate the weather and in instances where there is thunder, we will stop and return to the school. Our day may be cut short due to weather, but if students are prepared, we should be able to be outside for an extended period of time. We thank you for your cooperation in ensuring that students are prepared for tomorrow's outing. We will be sending an email in School Messenger about this as well. Merci! Did you know that our outdoor learning space has a new plaque in memory of Mr Murray our beloved caretaker who passed away this year. He will be forever in our hearts as we continue to spread kindness like he did each and every day the Varsity way! SPORTS DAY IS A GO - Rain or Shine An alternate indoor plan has been arranged in case of severe weather, but we are hoping to be outside. See Mme Brinson's email from late this afternoon for more details. Students are expected to be dressed for cool and wet weather. Merci! National Indigenous Peoples Day Tomorrow is a special day to recognize the significant contributions and cultures of our First Nations People. We will celebrate with stories, a sharing circle and music to go along with our sports day activities and fun! Happy Summer Solstice Everyone! LES TABLEAUX
Students worked in small groups to create scenes (les tableaux) about animal habitats and homes. Groups had to guess the habitat, the animal living in the habitat and the type of shelter used by the animal portrayed in the tableaux. It was a great way to use our outdoor learning space. Students also played a game called Èvolution to help learn about butterfly life cycles.

You will keep the blanket at school overnight for our Tunisia Day Celebration the following day. SCIENCE
Today students explored animal habitats and homes; They then played a game where they had to organize themselves into habitats by looking at similar species that might occupy the same habitat. They then discussed the interconnectedness of these species and why they have similar habitats. |
