Please check your email (School Messenger) for the December Newsletter from PT3 - Mme Ireland Mme Pearson Phonétique Videos - FLA
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC2PBcc0ii2SMFXF1Hbw3vMQ I came across these videos to help support your child's learning and understanding of french sounds. These videos focus on "la phonétique". A strong understanding of these basic sounds in french will help with decoding when reading french text and will assist with spelling while promoting oral language development.
December Monthly Newsletter Mme will be sending an email to parents through School Messenger on the week-end. Bonne fin de semaine les amis! Youpie, youpie c'est vendredi! Beatrice's Blog Post Aujourd'hui nous avons finis nos études de l'Inde et nous sommes prêts à voyager au Pérou. Tomorrow is our felting workshop! Yipee!
Our India Day Celebration was a HUGE hit! Thank you to all the parents and volunteers who helped make this day successful. Pictures of our day will be uploaded soon. Demain on visite avec nos copains. We look forward to taking our Kindergarten buddies outside for some games about hearing and sound tomorrow. MATH - We've been learning about money and how to calculate the value of our first name. Look at all the other possible calculations we can try out at home. What about our last name, an Oo vowel word, any word that equals a dollar or a word connected to today's India Day Celebration?
India Day Food Donations Tomorrow is our cultural celebration and we are still looking for a Dal and Vegetarian dish for our food tasting station. Please go to www.volunteersignup.org/P4LED if you can help us out! Thank you so much to everyone who has sign up so far! We appreciate your support! Milles mercis! Class Photo Day - Bring your smile tomorrow, for class photo day! Parent Teacher Conference Update
Thank you to everyone who was able to make it to conferences on Thursday and Friday last week. Today, students are coming home with an evaluation from M Trevor the phys ed teacher. You can also get updates by looking at M Trevor's WEEBLY (his link is found below the "This Week "notice board on the side of my Weebly page). If you were unable to attend Parent Teacher Conferences due to illness or scheduling challenges, please contact Mme Ireland to arrange an alternate date and time to meet. ParentsTeacher Conferences are Thursday night and Friday day. There is NO SCHOOL for students on Friday, but we look forward to seeing you all at conferences. Tina's Blog Post
Today we learned about the parts of the ear and I had a lot of fun sharing about myself as the student of the week/étoile de la semaine. MATH Exploring big numbers and skip counting Today students worked in groups to practice skip counting using 1000's charts. They practiced counting by 5, 10 and 100 from anywhere in the sequence. They also looked at forward and backward counting "compté par des sauts et comptè à rebours". Students then explored counting by 25 and the connections to counting money in this manner. They discovered a variety of similar ending patterns/numbers and corresponding operations involved when skip counting. Did you know that if you start at 21 and skip count forward by 5 that each number that follows will either end in a 1 or 6? Look: 21, 26, 31, 36, 41, 46 etc. Did you also know that 1+5 = 6 and 6-5 = 1. Do you see the pattern and fact families involved? November Scholastic Orders are due - November 26 (Monday after Conferences) Please get your orders in on time so we can get your books before the holidays. ART/ÉTUDES SOCIALES Nos dessins des animaux de l'Inde sont presque finis. Nous avons ajouté de la couleur avec les pastels d'huile. La prochaine étape c'est de les peinturer avec les aquarelles. Students have been enjoying the process of creating their India Animals using an initial sketch which they then re-drew onto watercolour paper. The next step was to add oil pastel colours. Soon they will add watercolour paint and finish off the project with a fact sheet called "Savais-tu", about their animal and it's significance to India. Walking Field Trip - National Child Day Today we explored Research Park! We climbed some trees, found some "ice fossils", sang the Nature Song and the Varsity School Chant, and we had a GREAT time! We then reflected in our journals about our outing and the Rights of the Child. Did you know that 193 countries have signed the U.N. Convention on the Rights of the Child? We learned today that we have the right to play and the right to learn. Thanks to our volunteers Mme Wendy and M John for joining us on the walk! Parent Teacher Conferences - Nov 22 & 23
Please make sure you have signed up for a conference either Thursday evening or Friday day. Mme Ireland looks forward to re-connecting with everyone and sharing each student's learning journey with parents.
